Handling your opt-out list

Check out our handy checklist for some simple steps to help make sure your SMS campaigns deliver real value and results.

If you are sending marketing messages you should include an opt out path (we recommend every 4-5 campaigns). There are several ways to do this:

Add a STOP keyword. Each of your inboxes can automatically have the word STOP appended to the keyword to process opt outs. For example, if your keyword is BRIAN on 60777, then BRIANSTOP on 60777 will allow people to opt out of your service.

All accounts come with a free alphanumeric keyword – for example JU7RT on 60777. So, “”text JU7RTSTOP to 60777″” will enable people to opt out of your campaigns. All texts to our shortcodes are charged at standard network rate (usually 10p + VAT).

Add an opt-outs URL. All accounts come equipped with an opt-out URL, which recipients can follow on their phones or type into their PC web browsers to opt out from your campaigns. This is free for you and your clients.

Once clients have opted out of your campaigns they appear in your opt-outs list. This means that if you try to add or import their number into a group in future, they will not be added.
