General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)
Enforced as of the 25th May 2018
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requires that businesses are accountable and transparent about the personal data they hold on their customers, what they use that data for, and gives those customers greater control over whether to allow that data processing to take place. It came into effect on 25th May 2018.
Put simply, GDPR will change the way businesses collect and use customer information, aiming to make the future of customer communications more open and balanced. In addition, GDPR will give the consumer more confidence and trust with the brands they wish to engage with. This reinforces the philosophy Textlocal has always stood by – to make sure you’re contacting the right people, with the right message at the right time.
Ultimately as with the existing DPA 2018 it is our customers’ responsibility as data controller (data controller refers to the person or people who determine the purpose (why) and means (how) of the processing of personal data) of their contact database to ensure they are compliant with GDPR. And as the Data processor, Textlocal advocates customers not uploading any data to the Textlocal platform to process unless they know its compliant and consent has been received.
Textlocal (as part of the IMImobile Group) are fully compliant with GDPR and have processes to deliver for and comply with the new regulations.
