Centurion Travel integrate Textlocal’s API to speed up and improve MOT bookings

Centurion Travel Limited offers private coach charter predominantly for schools and colleges in the Bath area as well as other private customers. As a requirement to operate coaches, the company has a large modern workshop and vehicle testing facility which is also used to offer MOT testing to outside customers.

Challenge

The MOT booking process was purely manual with a reliance on writing details accurately. As with any manual process, there was potential for disputes over the correctness of bookings causing issues around people arriving late as well as missing appointments.

There was also no system in place for reminding the customers that their MOTs were due.

Solution

Using Textlocal’s API Integration, Centurion Travel now sends SMS for booking confirmations to their MOT customers and reminder text messages prior to the appointment. They also use SMS to tell customers when their vehicles are ready and annually send a message to say their vehicle MOT is due to expire.

Results

SMS is used by most people therefore it is the most likely means to communicate. It gives a record directly to the customer’s mobile phone and does not get lost like an email might.

The majority of the bookings come from an SMS prompt to advise their MOT is due which also provides a source to stimulate yearly ongoing bookings.

Centurion Travel now have zero disputes for incorrect bookings as they always ask their customers to check the SMS upon receipt. This ensures they are always fully booked two weeks ahead.
