Discover 37.2 million reasons why bulk SMS is the hottest sales prospect on the market for a reseller and how you can use it to create a new revenue stream from your existing clients.
The UK’s addicted to mobile phones. In a recent article for the Huffington Post, Dr Sally Andrews said: “The fact that we use our phones twice as many times as we think we do indicates that a lot of smartphone use seems to be habitual, automatic behaviours that we have no awareness of.” And then there are the findings from British psychologists stating that the younger generation spends an average of 5 hours a day on their phones.
As a result of these social habits, more and more businesses have started to see the value in mobile marketing as an avenue to focus on. Naturally, this has given SMS marketing an exponential boost in popularity over the past few years.
So, if you’re a marketing agency with a vast network of clients, or a reseller looking for an added product to add to your sales portfolio, you might want to consider SMS marketing as a viable option.
Why are more clients using SMS marketing?
Delivering SMS messaging alongside existing cloud-based telecoms and IT solutions give resellers another reason to engage with their customers.
The underlining point is that text messaging outperforms all other marketing channels. Although it doesn’t have the glamour of augmented reality, it does boast an effectiveness that is beyond the compare across almost every sector. And that makes SMS marketing a very powerful mechanic for every agency and their client base.
The graph below will give you a little taster on why clients are starting to favour bulk text messaging.

And then there’s the sheer quantity of consumers opting in to receive SMS from brands and organisations. According to The State of SMS white paper, 37.2 million consumers have opted in, and by 2020, this figure is set to rise to 48.65 million. In layman’s terms, that’s over three-quarters of the UK population open and willing to receive SMS marketing and alerts. These stats not only make SMS the fastest growing marketing channel but also make it an irresistible value proposition.
The performance averages for sending an SMS online also packs a punch too, with a 98% open rate and a 32% redemption rate. Further research taken from The State of SMS white paper, reveals that a mesmerising 7 billion text messages will be sent in 2017. With 6.3 billion (or 90%) of those being absorbed and read within the first three minutes of receiving them.
Plus, with an average of 169 business SMS sent per opted-in user in 2017, there’s undoubtedly a quantifiable means for resellers to provide this product in their sales remit.
