IMRG gives its backing to Mobile Retail Masterclass event

Mobile Marketing and Communications company Textlocal are speaking at this year’s Mobile Retail Masterclass event being staged by Mobile Marketing Magazine and Camerjam, in London on 15 March.

The Interactive Media in Retail Group (IMRG) has confirmed its support for the event which brings together retailers and mobile solutions providers, enabling retail executives to find out, in the space of one morning, how mobile can help them meet their business objectives. IMRG managing director David Smith will kick off the event with an analysis of the past 12 months in mobile and some thoughts on the future of mobile retailing and mCommerce.

“The mobile opportunity is too important for retailers to ignore, with recent research by the IAB revealing that 43 per cent of people have transacted on their mobile phone,” says Smith. “Retailer sites can be accessed by people from almost anywhere via a mobile device, with savvy shoppers even using the channel in-store to compare prices and conduct research, so the potential for online retailers is massive. The Mobile Retail Masterclass event offers an excellent opportunity for retailers to discover the detail about implementing an m-commerce solution to ensure they are ready to accommodate these changes in consumer shopping behaviour.”

The event is the first in a series of Masterclass events covering different industry verticals that Mobile Marketing and Camerjam are staging in 2011. Sectors covered will include Publishing, Hospitality, Travel, Automotive, and Financial Services. Mobile Marketing and the IMRG are also working on another retail-focused event for the autumn of 2011. More details on this will be released in the coming months.

“We are delighted to have the IMRG on board,” says Camerjam founder, James Cameron. “They command the respect of the nation’s leading retailers and their endorsement serves to underline the event’s credibility.”

The Mobile Retail Masterclass will explain to retailers how they can best use SMS, mobile apps, websites, coupons, advertising, CRM programmes and location-based services to increase footfall and sales, in-store, online and on mobile handsets. It will also include bespoke research commissioned for the event, as well as case studies presented by retailers and their mobile partners. Entry to the event is free for senior retail executives, and several High St. retails brands have already confirmed their attendance, including ASDA, HMV and New Look.

“We are really excited about the Masterclass series, and the response from retailers already, three months ahead of the event, shows, I think, that we have hit on the right formula,” says Mobile Marketing editor, David Murphy. “It will enable retailers to learn in one morning what might take them weeks or months otherwise. We’re thrilled that the IMRG shares our enthusiasm for the event.”

The event is supported by a number of leading mobile experts including Gemalto (permission based marketing), Navteq (location advertising), O2 (apps vs. websites), Textlocal (webpages and coupons), Velti (mobile sales) and Paythru (mobile payments).
